What is the ADC Part Two Technical Exam?
The ADC Part Two Technical Examination is the hands-on component of the ADC assessment pathway for overseas-trained dentists seeking registration in Australia.
You perform a series of dental procedures on simulated patients under strict exam conditions, with every preparation marked against detailed criteria — dimensions, margins, anatomy, and handling.
Most candidates who fail don’t lack clinical ability. They lose marks because they don’t know exactly what examiners are trained to look for, or because exam-day time pressure exposes technique that was never assessed by an expert eye.
Passing the Technical Examination is a required step toward full registration as a dentist in Australia.
What You'll Learn
- Perform every examinable ADC technical task to marking criteria
- Self-assess your preps the way examiners mark them
- Correct the technique faults costing you marks — identified chairside, fixed on the spot
- Manage exam-day time pressure through repetition under timed conditions
- Walk into the exam having already done everything it will ask of you
Course Content
Training covers all ADC Part 2 technical tasks, including:
- Tooth preparation for indirect restorations (PFM)
- Provisional crown temporisation
- Carious tooth preparation
